      Location - north of Burlingrton on Bethel Church Rd (SR-1603) off of Boone Rd (SR-1602) and off of Burch Cridge Rd (SR-1593).

      On January 28, 1807, John Danieley of the county of Orange, granted, conveyed and confirmed to Francis Ashbury, Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, a parcel of land for a meeting house and burying place. Trustees were James Pyle, Col. John Pyle, Thomas Phillips, John Rumley and James Danieley. It is said that Elihue Pyle started the meeting house and that it carried his name for many years. Since that time the church has become known as Bethel and has always been an active member of the Methodist church. Many graves are marked with fieldstones or are unreadable and beside the cemetery in a grove of trees is a slave cemetery.
