  20. Whitaker, James M. "Coy"   (b. 29 Jul 1942 - d. 23 May 2018)
      • James M. Whitaker "Coy", age 75, of Sanford, NC, died at First Health Moore Regional Hospital's Reid Heart Center. He was born in Moore County, NC to the late Elmer Whitaker and Kate Black Whitaker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings Annie Ruth Coe, Charles Whitaker, Thomas Whitaker and Larry Whitaker. Coy was an active member of Calvary Missionary Methodist Church. He served in numerous roles of the church and volunteered at the Holly Springs Baptist Church Community Food Pantry. He worked 20 years as a Foreman for Davey Tree Company and 20 years for Line Construction. Some of his favorite pastimes were watching NASCAR, reading his Bible and spending time with his family. He is survived by sons James Whitaker and wife April of Wendell, Jimmy P. Whitaker and wife Lorraine of Sanford, Darrell W. Powers of Sanford, NC; daughter Kathy Hickman and husband Charles of Olivia; brother Pete Whitaker and wife Sue of Sanford, NC; sisters Betty Pollock of Angier, NC, Lib Hall of Kinston, NC; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at Calvary Missionary Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery.
