336    NICHOLSON, NATHANIEL FAMILY (Eaton Ferry Rd.)

Location - off Eaton Ferry Rd (SR-1344) about 3 miles from Eaton Ferry Rd (SR-1345).


Directions: From Warrenton courthouse on Hwy 158 E Bus, travel 9.9 miles to Vaughan and turn left onto SR 1345 (Eaton Ferry Rd). Travel 0.1 mile and turn left onto SR 1344 (Eaton Ferry Rd). Travel 0.6 mile and continue right onto SR 1344 (Eaton Ferry Rd). Travel 2.2 miles and turn right onto a gated dirt road. Travel 0.6 mile and turn right onto the second timber road. Travel 0.7 mile to the abandoned cemetery on the left at the end of the path. Several unmarked graves were noted. Race-White.

Note: Nathaniel Nicholson was also called John Jackie and Old Squire Nat. Two Nicholson children: Wm Henry Nicholson (CSA); Sarah Nicholson (married a Bobbitt) Second wife was Mary Jane Pope Nicholson; had 15 children.

1. Nicholson, Amarilah A.   (b. 11 Nov 1828 - d. 15 Jul 1852)
Age 23 yrs 8 mos 4 ds. Amarilah A. Nicholson (Amarilla) was the first wife of Nathaniel Nicholson, married in 1848. After her deeath in 1852, Nathaniel married Mary Jane Pope on 10 Feb 1855 (MG Bond). Nathaniel and Mary Jane had 15 children.
Amarilla was the daughter of William Henry Shearin and Amanda Johnston. Her husband, Nathaniel Nicholson, is the son of John Jordan Nicholson and Sallie Rivers Shearin Nicholson. John Jordan Nicholson is the person who was called "John Jackie".
Amarilah and Nathaniel's children: Wm Henry Nicholson (CSA); Sarah Nicholson (married a Bobbitt).
