377    SHEARIN - BURROWS CEMETERY (Church Hill Rd.)

      Location - off Church Hill Rd (SR-1335) about 2.9 miles from Hwy 158 E Bus.


      Directions: From Warrenton courthouse on Hwy 158 E Bus, travel 6 miles and turn left onto SR 1335 (Church Hill Rd). Travel 2.9 miles and enter the woods on the right at the site of the old Burrows homeplace which was about 50 feet from the road. The abandoned cemetery is 175 feet to the left. The stones and graves are in a large area of periwinkle. This site is said to have been a Wells-Fargo stagecoach stop. Four graves were marked with field rocks and it appeared to be seven or more unmarked grave sites. Race-White.

      Note: Ann R Myrick married Zachariah Shearin in 1830 per Shearin Genealogy and Mrs. Peggy Capps.

      • "As a wife devoted, As a Mother affectionate, As a friend ever faithful and true ..... " (broken stone, could not read)
