402    WEST - CARTER FAMILY (Eaton Ferry Rd.)

Location - off Eaton Ferry Rd (SR-1344) about 3.5 miles from Eaton Ferry Rd (SR-1345).


Directions: From Warrenton courthouse on Hwy 158 E Bus, travel 9.9 miles to Vaughan and turn left onto SR 1345 (Eaton Ferry Rd). Travel 0.1 mile and bear left onto SR 1344 (Eaton Ferry Rd). Travel 0.5 mile and continue right onto SR 1344 (Eaton Ferry Rd). Travel 2.9 miles and turn left onto a timber path 0.2 mile beyond Olive Grove Baptist Church. Travel 0.4 mile to the one-half acre, abandoned cemetery in the open area on the right 100 feet from the path. The hand-carved decorative soapstone tombstones are small but unique with inlaid carvings and letters. The cemetery has 12 or more unmarked graves and 10 or more graves marked with field rocks. Race-African American.
