568    SLAVE CEMETERY (Buxton Plantation)

Location - off Hwy 58 about 7.5 miles from Liberia on the Buxton Plantation.


Directions: From Warrenton courthouse on Hwy 158 E Bus, travel 0.5 mile and turn right onto Hwy 58. Travel 4.2 miles to Liberia and bear right onto Hwy 58. Travel 7.5 miles and turn right to the Buxton Plantation home. Go to the right of the house and bear right behind the house. Enter the pasture through the locked gate. Travel on the farm path about 0.1 mile and turn left. Enter through the locked gate and bear right across the pasture to the wooded area. Cross the branch and continue beyond the locked gate through a field for approximately 0.5 mile. Drive along the woods on the right to the gate. The large cemetery is in the woods with 100 to 150 graves. Fieldstones mark many of the graves. Race-African American.

In wooded area there are rocks with markings on them.
